How much does it cost?

About 75% of our jobs are under $150 and many of the jobs we do are under $100. On the other hand, some of our largest jobs can reach prices close to $400. Pricing factors include pitch and type of roof, linear feet, height, size of gutters, number of downspouts, proximity of trees, how much debris needs to be cleaned from the roof, and whether you have guards on the gutters. Functionality is our main concern.

Are there any surprises when I get my bill?

Generally there are four things that can raise the price of your gutter cleaning.

a.) Minor repairs that you request. Sealing leaky seams, raising sagging gutters and reattaching disconnected downspouts are the types of minor repairs we can do, but are not included in your gutter cleaning price.

b.) Clearing clogged downspouts is almost always included in the price except when they need to be dismantled. This ends up happening on less than 1% of our jobs, but it does happen several times per year.

c.) Working to unclog underground drainage, if necessary, will add to the cost of your gutter cleaning.

d.) The removal of large amounts of debris (think lawn bags full of leaves) from areas of the roof where leaves accumulate in unusually large quantities can add to the cost.

What is included?

We will clean debris from the roof valleys; remove debris from the gutters by hand, flush all gutters and downspouts and check drainage.

Do you clean the outsides of the gutters?

Our approach to gutter cleaning focuses on the functionality of the system. We will make every effort to make sure the debris on the inside of the gutters does not end up clinging to the outside. Sometimes our customers ask if we can improve the appearance of the gutters. Often we can remove staining and stubborn dirt from the exterior surface of the gutters, but it requires a significant amount of elbow grease. Typically the cost is about the same as the cost to clean out the gutters.

How do you keep from damaging the gutters, the roof, my house, etc.?

The use of stabilizer bars and rubber bumper pads as well as years of experience setting extension ladders at the appropriate angle enable us to clean out your gutters without damaging or marring any nearby surfaces.

What about the roof?

We will clear the roof of major debris. We do not want the next rain storm or strong wind to reclog your gutters with nearby debris.

What about the downspouts?

We will make sure the water flows unimpeded through the downspouts. That's why we always us a hose as part of the gutter cleaning process.

What about drainage and underground drain systems?

When we flush the gutters, we will check to make sure the water flows to the intended destination. Sometimes this is easier said than done; especially if a large and intricate underground system drains directly into the storm sewer system without having any intermediate check locations. We will do our best.

Do you need access to external water supply?

Yes. If you turn your exterior water supply off for the winter, we need you to wait until after we clean the gutters.

Do you need to use my hoses?

No. We will bring our own.

Will you throw the leaves in my bushes?

We pride ourselves on leaving your yard, decks, sidewalks in the same condition as when we arrive. Because we do a significant amount of gutter cleaning after the landscapers have completed their final cleanup, we make every effort to clean up the mess that we make while cleaning out your gutters.

What if my gutters don't work properly after you clean them?

Please call us if you think this has happened. On rare occasions we inadvertently omit a section of gutters. Sometimes we discover a defect in the installation of your gutter system, examples include improper pitch and missing drop edges.

When is the best time and how often should I get my gutters cleaned?

When your gutters are clogged and not working properly, cleaning them out will restore functionality the majority of the time. Customers who have larger trees directly over the house usually need gutter cleaning to be performed after the seeds drop in the spring, and after the leaves drop in the fall...so twice per year. Customers who have no trees near the house and are only concerned with the prevention of soot or grit buildup may be able to go many years between cleanings. Customers should pay attention to how their gutters perform during heavy rains.

Should I get gutter guards?

While it is possible that our judgment has been influenced by conflict of interest; it seems clear to us that gutters work best when they are clean and open. Filtering the rain water as it enters the gutter restricts the flow and results in a lot of overshooting. Most guards are susceptible to clogging. Sometimes solving the problem of gutter cleaning by installing gutter guards leads to problems that are more difficult and more expensive to solve.
